Onward Christian Soldiers

Sabine Baring Gould
WASHINGTON - The year was 1865 and a man by the name of Sabine Baring Gould authored the hymn, "Onward Christian Soldiers". This famous Christian song has been adopted by the Salvation Army as well as being the funeral durge for many, including past Presidents of the United States of America.  The lyrics have been blamed for inciting militarism by some ignorant of it's spiritual application as well as being used by those advancing Christian militantism.  Many, though, are oblivious to what a true Christian soldier representing the kingdom of Christ is to be fighting for . . . is it an earthly kingdom or a spiritual kingdom?

As we look to celebrate and memorialize our supposed heroes this Memorial Day in the United States perhaps it would do us well to remember what is truly worth fighting for and what is an absolute utter and complete waste of time and resources, at least for those who dare label themselves as Christian.

Militarization of the Police
This present writer comes from a family full of past and present military and law enforcement 'peace keepers'.  My own father left the employ of the U.S. Military and American Police forces before following a calling to Bible School and subsequent pastoring roles.  His was a higher calling.  One he chose wisely before he passed away.  But many today remain ignorantly, sometimes purposely, intertwined with the kingdoms of this world as though they can be harmonized with the Kingdom of God; they cannot.

It is a sad fact today that many men and women currently serving in the United States Military professing to be Christians are anything but a true Christian warrior of the FaithThe way the Bible defines a soldier of Jesus Christ is one who has taken up the sword of the Spirit along with the spiritual amour befitting to a Christian battling in defense of the Faith without ever even picking up a carnal weapon.  They serve and represent a heavenly kingdom and their Commanding Officer is the Eternal Captain of their Faith.

In America, especially, the churches of Jesus Christ have meshed the holy with the profane.  They fly the United States Flag as though it represents both God and country.  It does represent country - but it does not represent the God of the Bible.  Many errors has Calvinism wrought on the American Church.  America is an earthly kingdom.  It's god is the Great Satan as Islam accurately accuses.  In this regard, a false religion speaks a truth. The values America stands for and represents are based on rebellion, lies, and murder. And the father of such attributes is not YHWH but the fiery red Dragon.  Through deceit the professing churches of Christ, proclaiming to be righteous, push millions into the pit.

America is not the kingdom for which Christians must fight.  As a result, while it may seem harsh, unloving, and distasteful, the Truth must be told.  And the Truth is no good Christian soldier of the Faith entangles himself in the affairs and cares of this world nor does he fight for fleshly kingdoms and dare call himself a disciple of the LORD Jesus Christ.

If you know a soldier serving in the United States military today then you can rest-assured this person is not a Bible believing Christian.  While they may yet be ignorant of the devices of the Devil, they are still without excuse.  They may claim to be Christian but they only profess a hallow belief based on their own understanding.  They are trying to serve and obey two masters.  One, their Spiritual LORD and Savior, the other a demonic earthly kingdom with fallen men at the helm.  In essence, they love one and hate the other.  While they claim to love God and confess to be a Christian their actions prove otherwise.  They do not love God.  For if they did they would not be serving in the kingdom of darkness, but in the Kingdom of Light.  Military chaplains, no matter how sincere, are the greatest example of this lukewarmness.  They evoke God's blessing and prayer upon men fighting fleshly wars with carnal weapons for satanic kingdoms of darkness.

It is no secret today the government of the United States is disintegrating.  It is consuming itself.  It is bearing the fruit of it's past based on lies, murder, and graft.  How sad it is to see so-called men of Faith like David Barton and Johnathan Hansen repeat the Devil's lies and espouse witchcraft disguising it as Patriotism.  Many others go about rightly crying out against the sins of this nation and its impending fall but fail to teach upon the merits of preaching the Kingdom of God.

Christian . . . you are to be a stranger in this land.  A Pilgrim.  One who is persecuted for their lack of love for this life and its pleasures.  While we are "in" the world we mustn't be "of" the world.  So many "Christians" today live just like the world.  They "act" just like the world.  Theirs is a "feel good - God is love" gospel.  They do not know what it means to be a proginator of the Kingdom of God.

To speak of actually obeying the commandments of Christ and the Apostles is foreign to them.  And to make such obedience necessary in order to inherit the Kingdom of God is intolerable, according to such persons.  But we shall not cower in the face of such foolish ridicule.

The Bible is clear:
You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.  (James 4:4)

The word "world" in this context doesn't mean the planet, nor the heavenly creation upon it.  The context of 'world' imparts the idea of earthly kingdoms and systems of men.  That is, if one becomes politically entangled with governments and kingdoms of this age, or ecumenically linked with pagan religions, or financially embraces the system of usury so prevalent today, even drawing unrighteous reward from it - then such people have become the enemies of God.

Military soldiers pledge allegience to the United States of America, a carnal kingdom of flesh and blood which cannot nor will not inherit the Kingdom of God.  Men and women who bow down to a man like a Pope or a pastor or priest espousing pagan rituals and heathen beliefs however discretely disguised as "Christian" are serving another kingdom and have sought friendship with the world.  A person up to their ears in debt possessing mortgages, car payments, and receiving financial windfalls at the detriment of others is not a soldier of Jesus Christ but a huckster and a patron of a carnal kingdom of men.

These people are not in nor will they inherit the Kingdom of God.

How many such people still proclaim to be Christian?

This Memorial Day how about observing something different?  Instead of worshiping and praying for fallen men and women serving degenerate government let's memorialize the following Scripture and justly apply it where needed lest we, too, be found wanting and cast out:

“As for you, do not pray for this people, and do not lift up cry or prayer for them, and do not intercede with Me; for I do not hear you.  Do you not see what they are doing in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?  “The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead dough to make cakes for the queen of heaven; and they pour out drink offerings to other gods in order to spite Me.  “Do they spite Me?” declares the LORD. “Is it not themselves they spite, to their own shame?”  Therefore thus says the Lord GOD, “Behold, My anger and My wrath will be poured out on this place, on man and on beast and on the trees of the field and on the fruit of the ground; and it will burn and not be quenched.”      (Jeremiah 16:17-20)
